Aioli — Terms of Service

Welcome to Aioli, an AI cooking app operated by Zachary Wishnov ("we," "us," "Aioli"). These Terms of Service ("Terms") are a legal agreement between you and us governing your use of the Aioli app. By downloading, accessing, or using Aioli, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the app.

1. Who can use Aioli

You must be at least 13 years old to use Aioli. By using the app, you confirm that you meet this requirement and that you'll use the app in line with these Terms and all applicable laws.

2. What Aioli does

Aioli helps you cook from ingredients you already have. You photograph your fridge, pantry, or a receipt; our AI identifies ingredients; and the app generates recipe ideas, full recipes, AI-generated food images, meal plans, shopping suggestions, estimated nutrition information, and a conversational cooking assistant ("Oli"). Aioli does not have user accounts — your pantry, recipes, and preferences are stored on your device. How we handle your data is described in our Privacy Policy, which is part of these Terms.

3. AI-generated content — important

Aioli's recipes, ingredient detection, nutrition estimates, health scores, allergen information, and images are generated by artificial intelligence and may be incomplete, inaccurate, or wrong. Treat everything the app produces as a helpful starting point, not professional advice. You are responsible for using your own judgment before cooking or eating anything.

• Allergies and dietary restrictions: Do not rely on Aioli to keep you safe from allergens or ingredients you must avoid. AI ingredient detection can miss or misidentify items, and generated recipes may include things that conflict with your needs. Always read actual product labels and verify every ingredient yourself if you have an allergy, intolerance, or medical dietary requirement.
• Nutrition and health: Calorie counts, macros, health scores, and calorie targets are estimates, not medical or nutritional advice. They are not a substitute for guidance from a doctor, registered dietitian, or other qualified professional. Don't use Aioli to diagnose, treat, or manage any health condition.
• Food safety: You are responsible for safe food handling, storage, cooking temperatures, and freshness. Aioli's shelf-life and freshness information is approximate.

If you have a serious allergy or medical condition, consult a qualified professional and verify everything independently. You use AI-generated content at your own risk.

4. Subscriptions, free trial, and billing

Aioli offers paid subscription tiers — Apprentice, Sous Chef, and Head Chef — available as monthly or annual plans, with an optional 7-day free trial. Subscriptions unlock higher monthly limits on recipe generation and pantry/receipt scanning.

• Payment through Apple. All purchases are processed by Apple through your Apple ID using Apple's In-App Purchase system. We never receive or store your payment card details. Your purchase is also subject to Apple's Media Services Terms and Conditions.
• Free trial. If you start a 7-day free trial, you won't be charged as long as you cancel before the trial ends. If you don't cancel, the trial automatically converts to a paid subscription at the price shown when you signed up.
• Auto-renewal. Subscriptions renew automatically (monthly or annually, depending on your plan) and your Apple ID is charged for each renewal, until you cancel. Your subscription renews unless you turn off auto-renew at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
• Cancellation. You can cancel anytime in iOS Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period; you keep access until then.
• Refunds. All refunds are handled by Apple under Apple's policies (Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions → Report a Problem, or via Apple's support). We don't process refunds directly.
• Price changes. We may change subscription prices or what each tier includes. If a change affects your current plan, we'll give notice as required, and Apple will ask for your consent to a price increase before it takes effect where required. Changes never apply retroactively to a period you've already paid for.
• Usage limits. Each tier includes monthly limits on recipe generation and scanning. When you reach a limit, you can wait for your next cycle or upgrade. Limits and tier contents may be adjusted over time; we'll aim to be fair and give notice of material reductions.

5. Your content and license to us

You keep ownership of the photos you take and the information you enter. To run the app, you grant us a limited license to process your photos and inputs solely to provide Aioli's features (for example, sending an image to our AI providers to detect ingredients). We don't claim ownership of your content and don't use it to advertise to you. Details on data handling are in the Privacy Policy.

6. Content Aioli produces

Recipes, images, and other output the app generates for you are yours to use for your personal, non-commercial cooking. Because AI output is not unique to you and may be similar for other users, we don't grant you any exclusive rights in it, and we may generate similar content for others. The Aioli app itself, its name, branding, the "Oli" character, and its software remain our property.

7. Acceptable use

When using Aioli, you agree not to:

• Use the app for any unlawful purpose or in violation of these Terms;
• Reverse-engineer, decompile, scrape, or attempt to extract the app's source code, prompts, or underlying models, except where that restriction is prohibited by law;
• Interfere with, overload, or attempt to gain unauthorized access to our systems, backend proxy, or AI providers;
• Resell, redistribute, or commercially exploit the app or its generated content; or
• Misuse the app in a way that could harm us, other users, or our service providers.

8. Third-party services

Aioli relies on third-party providers (including Apple, Anthropic, Together AI, Cloudflare, RevenueCat, and others described in our Privacy Policy). Your use of those services through Aioli may also be subject to their terms, and we're not responsible for their acts or omissions.

9. Disclaimers

Aioli is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement. We don't warrant that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any recipe, nutrition estimate, ingredient detection, or other output will be accurate, complete, or suitable for you. As described in Section 3, AI-generated content may be wrong, and you rely on it at your own risk.

10. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Aioli and Zachary Wishnov will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss arising from your reliance on AI-generated content (including any allergic reaction, illness, injury, or property damage resulting from preparing or eating food). To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim relating to the app is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid us for the app in the 12 months before the claim, or (b) ten U.S. dollars ($10). Some jurisdictions don't allow certain limitations, so some of these may not apply to you.

11. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Aioli and Zachary Wishnov from claims, damages, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of your misuse of the app or your violation of these Terms or applicable law.

12. Termination

You can stop using Aioli anytime by deleting the app. We may suspend or end your access if you violate these Terms or misuse the service. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including Sections 3, 6, and 9–11) will continue to apply.

13. Apple-specific terms

The following apply because you obtained Aioli through the Apple App Store:

• These Terms are between you and us only, not with Apple. Apple is not responsible for the app or its content.
• Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the app.
• If the app fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple may refund the purchase price (if any); to the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation regarding the app.
• Apple is not responsible for addressing any claims you or a third party have relating to the app, including product-liability, legal/regulatory, or consumer-protection claims.
• Apple is not responsible for investigating or resolving any third-party intellectual-property claim relating to the app.
• You represent that you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo or designated as "terrorist supporting," and that you are not on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
• Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and, upon your acceptance, have the right to enforce these Terms against you.

14. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll update this page and the effective date above. Your continued use of Aioli after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.

15. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida and the United States, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute not subject to Apple's terms will be handled in the state or federal courts located in Florida, unless applicable law gives you the right to bring a claim elsewhere.
